United Way Day of Caring 2004
The United Way Day of Caring is Western New York's largest volunteer event,
mobilizing thousands of volunteers to assist local community providers with
hands-on service projects in Erie and Niagara counties. By helping these providers, Day of
Caring volunteers save them thousands of dollars and see firsthand the impact of their United
Way gifts and the important work of human service providers in the community. Buffalo
State faculty and staff have always been an important part of this community-wide event.
This year's United Way Day of Caring will be held on Wednesday, August 18. If you are
interested in joining other members of the Buffalo State community as a Day of Caring
volunteer, please contact Barbara Meyer, assistant vice president for finance and management, at meyerba@buffalostate.edu
or ext. 4311.

Van Driver Certification Course
SUNY regulations require all drivers of passenger vans owned, leased, or rented by the
college to take a Van Driver Certification course. All departments and organizations that
use passenger vans, whether funded with state funds or other funds, such as USG funds,
are required to have their van drivers certified. The certification course is about four
hours long and is conducted by a certified instructor from University Police. All
participants are required to have a valid New York State driver's license.
The next certification course will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, in Chase Hall
109. Please call Kenneth Herberger, University Police officer 1, at ext. 6333 by Monday, May 10, if you
wish to attend this training session. Additional training sessions will be scheduled
throughout the year. Please call the University Police Administrative Office at ext. 6332
with questions.
