Flood Named Dean
It is my pleasure to officially inform the Buffalo State community that Lawrence Flood, professor of political science, has been appointed dean of the Faculty of Natural and Social Sciences. Flood, a longtime colleague at Buffalo State, has served with distinction as associate dean and has served, as well, as interim dean. He was the unanimous choice of the search committee, led by Virginia Grabiner, chair and associate professor of sociology. We are thankful to the committee, notably Joaquin Carbonara, James Haynes, Hadar Isseroff, Jill Nash, Maria Pacheco, Steve Pendleton, and Abdul Raoof.

CEP Is Mandatory
Several colleagues have expressed concern that some faculty members are not meeting during Critique and Evaluation Period. Their concerns are real: Such practices are in violation of State Education Department requirements and deny students the full opportunity to learn. Thus, I remind faculty that CEP is part of the instructional obligation; therefore, a final meeting or exam must be given during CEP week. Exceptions must be justified in writing and have the approval of the dean of faculty.
