Burchfield Penney Grand Opening Showcases Buffalo State Faculty, Students
Join the celebration November 22–30 when the new Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State College officially opens with 31 hours of round-the-clock events followed by a week of special exhibitions and performances, many featuring Buffalo State faculty and students. Admission is always free for members of the college community.
New ‘One-Card System’ Offers Cost Savings, Convenience
Through a collaboration between E. H. Butler Library staff, the Information Services and Systems Office, Computing and Technology Services, and Sodexo, a single card system was launched last month for Buffalo State students, faculty, and staff. The Buffalo State ID card now manages multiple funds such as dining dollars and printing and copy services in the library. And it may soon offer much more.
New Speaker Series to Foster Conversation among Faculty, Graduate Students
Initiating dialogue and idea exchange among faculty members and with graduate students is the goal of a new internal speaker series, “Conversations in and out of Disciplines,” hosted by the English Department, starting November 21 and continuing through the spring. All faculty and graduate students are invited.
Bengal Pause Is All Play for Theater Department’s ‘Thursday Series’
For more than 15 years, the Theater Department’s “Thursday Series” has functioned as a veritable testing ground for aspiring actors, directors, designers, and producers. This semester, the long-standing tradition is experiencing a resurgence. And the best-kept secret is that Buffalo State students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend performances—for free.

Buffalo’s New Masterpiece
On December 9, 1966, an ambitious Buffalo State College professor, Edna M. Lindemann, opened the doors to the brand new Charles Burchfield Center. The small center, headquartered in the former library of Buffalo State’s Rockwell Hall, was Lindemann’s labor of love, an institution dedicated exclusively to the art and legacy of the world-famous Buffalo painter Charles Ephraim Burchfield.
Alan Pergament: At Least the ESPN Announcers Were Good
The MNF crew gave some decent plugs to the area. On the afternoon program Pardon the Interruption, Kornheiser wore a Buffalo State College cap. Jaworski, meanwhile, was wearing a black LaNova jacket that Kornheiser praised.
News Staffers Earn Buffalo State Honors
Two Buffalo News staff members were honored by the Buffalo State College Communication Department on Friday for their achievements in the news business. Mark Gaughan, Buffalo Bills beat reporter, and John Davis, News design director, were recognized, along with four other Buffalo State alumni, during a ceremony at 5:00 p.m. on the Buffalo State campus.
